Gangtok is the capital city of Sikkim. This small landlocked state is surrounded by the mighty Himalayas on every side. It is home to snow-clad mountains, lush green valleys and old Buddhist monasteries. Gangtok is one of the most popular hill stations boasting of some breathtaking panoramic views. River Rafting

To experience river rafting in Gangtok, one needs to visit a nearby town called Makha. The Teesta River has an 11km-long rafting stretch from Makha to Rangpo via Sirwani. Ropeway Ride

The Gangtok Ropeway starts from Deorali, halts at Namnang, and finally ends at Tashiling. The cable car service is designed as glass cabins with a capacity to carry up to 24 passengers at one time. There are no seats, and thus, passengers have to keep standing during the course of the journey. The entire ride takes about 7 minutes. Each ticket offers a two-way ride for the whole route, but you are free to get in and get off at any stop. Experiencing the ropeway ride in Gangtok is a must for all tourists because of the mesmerizing views it offers. On clear sunny days, you can be lucky enough to get a glimpse of the Kanchenjunga too.

Yak Ride

The Tsogmo Lake is a must-visit spot in every Gangtok itinerary. Situated on a height of 12,313 feet, this high-altitude lake is nestled in the midst of snow-covered Himalayas. Cars can go up only till a certain point, after which tourists are expected to trek the rest of the distance. There are also yak rides available on this path. Taking up a yak ride is an exciting prospect of visiting the Tsogmo Lake. At first glance, these long-haired animals can look scary with their curved pair of horns. But they are completely harmless. Yaks have a quiet and docile nature, and riding them is complete safe. Take in the enchanting scenery of the beautiful surroundings of the lake as you slowly climb up the path on the back of a yak.

Mountain Biking

Gangtok is one of the best places for adventure tours in India. The hilly terrain makes it a special favourite of mountain biking enthusiasts. There are countless biking trails in and around Gangtok, where you get a chance to explore undiscovered places.
